If you own a legitimate perpetual license for Adobe CS6 (purchased before 2013) and want to run it on a modern machine without Adobe’s "kill switch" for old activations, a hosts file block list can preserve your legal installation.

Using a third-party hosts file block list carries significant risks:

| Risk | Description | |------|-------------| | Malware injection | Unverified block lists may include malicious redirects (e.g., 0.0.0.0 bankofamerica.com to steal credentials). | | Broken system updates | Blocking adobe.com can prevent legitimate security updates for Adobe Reader, Flash (legacy), or Creative Cloud. | | False sense of privacy | Adobe apps may still send telemetry via hardcoded IPs or alternate domains not in the list. | | Administrative overhead | Adobe frequently changes domains; the block list becomes obsolete within weeks or months. |
