Akon | Unreleased Songs Top
Before the Afrobeat explosion of the 2010s, Akon was experimenting with highlife rhythms. "African Gyal" is a love letter to his heritage, sung partially in Wolof. It features live drums and a melodic guitar line. The song was allegedly scrapped because Akon’s label, Universal, didn't think "world music" would sell in the US at the time. Today, it sounds prophetic.
That is a controversial question. His official singles are polished, radio-friendly machines. The unreleased tracks, however, are raw, experimental, and emotional. You hear the process—the mistakes, the unedited ad-libs, the cross-cultural risks. For the casual listener, stick to "Right Now (Na Na Na)." For the collector, the top Akon unreleased songs offer a deeper, darker, and more rewarding journey into the mind of one of pop’s most enigmatic hitmakers.

Unlike many artists whose B-sides are forgettable, Akon’s unreleased material often rivals his singles. The reason is his unique production style. Akon produces most of his own work, creating skeletal, percussive beats layered with his distinctive "cracked" vocal harmonies. Many of these unreleased tracks feature early versions of hooks that would later become hits for other artists (like Lady Gaga or Leona Lewis).
Furthermore, between 2004 and 2012, Akon was leaking music at a furious pace. He recorded over 200 songs for Konvicted alone. That leaves a massive back catalog of material that exists only on dusty hard drives, old mixtapes, and YouTube re-uploads. Are we missing your favorite leak
While an official version of "Champagne" exists on the Stadium EP, the unreleased demo is vastly superior. The leaked version is stripped down; just Akon, an acoustic guitar, and raw vocals recorded in one take. The lyrics are more vulnerable, discussing the pain behind the partying. This version was replaced with a polished, over-produced mix for the official release, much to the dismay of original fans.
