The reading section of Form 115 is not long (typically 4-5 paragraphs), but the questions are dense. The biggest mistake students make is reading the passage first.

The answer is B. were (subjunctive mood). Students pick "was" because it sounds natural in conversation. But the ALCPT tests formal standard English.

✅ Build academic vocabulary – Focus on AWL (Academic Word List) sublists 1–3.
✅ Practice with a timer – Complete 50 listening items in 25 minutes, 50 reading items in 30 minutes.
✅ Listen for tone & stress – Form 115 often tests whether the speaker is certain, hesitant, or sarcastic.

Form 115 uses 4-picture grids. Students rush and look at the pictures after the prompt. Better technique: In the 5 seconds before the audio plays, scan all four pictures and say a silent label: "Crowd, runway, hangar, cockpit." When you hear the word "hangar," you answer instantly.
