Set in the declining era of the Maya civilization, Apocalypto tells the story of Jaguar Paw (Rudy Youngblood), a peaceful hunter living in a remote village with his pregnant wife and young son. His idyllic life is shattered when a brutal invading force, led by the ruthless Zero Wolf, raids his village. The men are taken as captives to be sacrificed to the gods, while Jaguar Paw manages to hide his family in a deep pit before being captured. The movie is a frantic, high-stakes race against time: he must escape his captors and return to save his family before the rains fill the pit and drown them.
