FlexNet uses two ports:
On the CLIENT machine, outbound traffic must be allowed. On the SERVER machine, inbound traffic must be allowed. Once you resolve error 85440, prevent its return:
Client-side fix (Windows Defender Firewall):
Server-side fix: Ensure the same ports are open Inbound on the license server. After making changes to environment variables or registry
If you are in a hurry, do this:
Nine times out of ten, this restores the "link" and eliminates error 85440.
For IT admins, use LMTOOLS on the client machine to test the link without launching the full software.
