An Expression of Concern is defined within the BGF framework as a public statement issued by the editor or publisher. It serves to alert readers that there are substantive doubts about the integrity, validity, or ethics of a published article. It is distinct from a Correction (which fixes a known error) and a Retraction (which removes the article from the scientific record). bgf 2.14.2
