A wild, filthy, brilliant deconstruction of shonen tropes. Denji, a poor devil hunter, merges with his chainsaw-dog devil to become Chainsaw Man. The manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto is chaotic, cinematic, and emotionally devastating—equal parts slapstick comedy and genuine tragedy. The anime (MAPPA) adapts with a realistic filmic style that some loved, some found too restrained compared to the manga’s manic energy.
Manga vs. Anime: The manga is raw and fast—read it first. The anime has gorgeous cinematography and a killer soundtrack but covers only the first arc.
