In the world of enterprise remote access, Fortinet is a giant. However, for the average user or IT administrator tasked with simply connecting to a corporate network, the standard, full-featured FortiClient installer can feel like overkill. It bundles antivirus, web filtering, application firewall, and vulnerability scanning—features you neither want nor need if you just require a secure SSL VPN tunnel.
This has led to a massive spike in the search query: "Download FortiClient VPN only."
Users want a lightweight, standalone VPN client. Unfortunately, Fortinet has made finding this specific version notoriously difficult on their official website. This article serves as your complete roadmap. We will explain why the "VPN Only" version is different, where to find the legitimate installer, and how to avoid malicious fake versions.
Fortinet provides a .deb and .rpm package for the VPN Only client.
