Text on Screen: TO BE CONTINUED...

For the uninitiated, Elmwood University follows a transfer student (default name: Alex Raine) who arrives at the prestigious, isolated Elmwood University after a mysterious scholarship offer. The university’s gothic architecture and fog-drenched courtyards hide a horrific secret: the campus exists in a state of temporal flux, where students from the 1970s, 90s, and present day all coexist, trapped by a ritual gone wrong.

By the end of Episode 2, Alex had uncovered the “Bell Theorem Experiment”—an attempt by the occult studies department in 1978 to map the afterlife using a modified quantum computer. The experiment failed, tearing a hole in reality. Now, “Echoes” (ghostly, time-looped versions of students) stalk the halls, and a silent figure in a cracked porcelain mask—known only as “The Registrar”—has begun to take a personal interest in Alex. Episode 2 ended with a brutal, unavoidable choice: save your sarcastic roommate Jamie from being erased from time, or save Professor Holloway, the one person who knows how to close the rift. No matter what you chose, the screen cut to black with The Registrar whispering, “Attendance is mandatory.”

Elmwood University -Ep.3- launches on October 26th for PC (Steam, GOG, Itch.io), with a Nintendo Switch port following in Q1 2026. Mac and Linux versions will be available day one. The file size is 4.2 GB—nearly double Episode 2—due to the higher-fidelity backgrounds and multiple voice-acted scenes (a first for the series, with Jonah Scott as Alex and SungWon Cho as The Registrar).

WickedWare has confirmed that Episode 3 is not the finale. The series is planned for five episodes total, with Episode 4 expected in late 2026. However, they’ve teased that Episode 3’s climax will “recontextualize everything you thought you knew about the first two episodes.” For the uninitiated, Elmwood University follows a transfer

One of WickedWare’s strengths is meaningful choice. Episode 3 introduces a "Trust System" that tracks your relationships more granularly than before. Based on your choices in Episodes 1 and 2, Episode 3 can diverge wildly:

For the first time in the series, Elmwood University -Ep.3- features a canonical, unavoidable character death. In an interview with Indie Horror Monthly, lead writer Cassandra Vane stated: “Episode 2 was about the threat of death. Episode 3 is about the aftermath. Someone in your core group will die, and you cannot save them. The game isn’t about preventing tragedy anymore. It’s about choosing how you respond to it.”

This death occurs roughly 90 minutes into the episode, regardless of prior choices. The identity of the victim changes based on your Loyalty scores, but the scene plays out the same way: a broken clock tower, a fall, and the sound of a bell tolling 13 times.
