Erich Fromm Sevme Sanati <Extended>

Birini gerçekten sevmek, onu tanımaktan geçer. Yüzeysel bilgi değil, derinlemesine bir anlayış. Fromm’a göre bilgi, saygının temelidir. İnsanı anlamadıkça ona saygı duymak imkânsızdır.

The most fundamental kind of love. It is love for all human beings. It is based on the experience of our common humanity. Brotherly love is love for the weak, the poor, the stranger. Without this, all other forms of love are selfish. erich fromm sevme sanati

Kitabın en zengin bölümlerinden biri, sevginin farklı nesnelere göre nasıl şekillendiğini anlattığı kısımdır: Birini gerçekten sevmek, onu tanımaktan geçer

Fromm is deeply critical of modern Western capitalism. He argues that capitalism is based on the need for masses of people who cooperate smoothly, want to consume more, and have tastes that can be standardized. The social character of modern man is alienated: he sells his personality, his smile, his opinions on the market. In such a society, love necessarily becomes a mutual sexual satisfaction or a smooth-working team of two people (a "well-oiled machine"). The most fundamental kind of love

He writes: "Two people thus fall in love when they feel they have found the best object available on the market, considering their own exchange value."

True love, for Fromm, is a revolutionary act. It is a rebellion against the commodity structure of society. To love is to place your faith in human growth, in the possibility of connection beyond utility.
