Etabs License: Error 18 2021

The 2021 release of ETABS coincided with major Windows 10 updates (20H2, 21H1) that hardened security around system services and network tunneling. Here are the three main culprits specific to that vintage:

Follow these diagnostic steps in order. Do not skip the version checks.

Try opening ETABS. If it works, the Firewall is blocking the license port. You need to create an Inbound/Outbound rule to allow the CSI License Manager application.

Fix: Use IP Address instead of Hostname

Why this works for 2021: The 2021 version has a bug in DNS caching over IPv6. Using an IPv4 address bypasses this entirely.
