In the year 2099, the sprawling metropolis of Neo-Veridia is a city of two halves. Above the clouds, the "Architects" live in a literal state of euphoria, their brains plugged into the Eden Network—a server that deletes pain and trauma in real-time. Below, in the rusted sprawl of the Undercity, the "Defectives" live short, brutal lives full of unfiltered human emotion.
The player takes on the role of Kai Ren, a "Siphon"—an illegal hacker who uses a modified Android rig to steal excess "pleasure data" from the Architects and sell it to the crime lords of the Undercity.
