You see that 40-pin IDE port? That’s for your grandpa’s DVD burner or a vintage 160GB hard drive. The four orange SATA ports are for modern(ish) drives. The ICH7 southbridge has no AHCI—only IDE mode. SSDs will work, but they’ll dream of faster days.
Pro tip: To boot from SATA, set “SATA Mode” to IDE. Then whisper “thank you” to the chipset.
