Fix: Clear the thumbnail cache. Open Command Prompt as Admin and type: ie4uinit.exe -show then del /f /s /q /a %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\thumbcache_*.db

After installing extensions, HEIC thumbnails will appear in File Explorer automatically. No need to open each file to see what it is.

If you continue having issues, your HEIC file might be corrupted or from an unusual source. Try opening it on an iPhone or Mac to verify the file itself is valid.
