Lascivia: Your work often features religious iconography mixed with erotic undertones. Is that a commentary on the church?

Blake Sanderson: It’s a commentary on desire. We are taught to kneel in pews, but we kneel for other things in the dark. The poses are the same; the devotion is the same. I just paint what I see when the lights go out. This month, let's focus on self-care not just

Blake Sanderson: Red is blood, red is passion, red is the stop sign you run. It’s the only color that matters in February.
