Your cage must be built before you aggro him. Follow this blueprint:
Lure him inside the open side. Once he passes the threshold, run around and seal the entrance with a Reinforced Gate. Congratulations, he is trapped. Lead Bigfoot directly over the trap
You cannot tame Bigfoot by lowering its health with a sword. You need a Blowpipe or Crossbow with Tranquilizer Darts.
Recipe for Tranquilizer Darts:
Craft at least 40 darts. Bigfoot has a massive unconsciousness meter, and it takes about 25-30 direct hits to knock it down. But be warned: Taming him is the hardest
