Challenge 1: “The audio is too fast.” Solution: Use the Langsam gesprochen (slowly spoken) versions available in the online media center.
Challenge 2: “I keep forgetting the new words.” Solution: The Magazin section systematically recycles vocabulary from the previous 6 lessons. Also, use the “Wortschatz” (vocabulary) appendix at the back, which is color-coded by module.
Challenge 3: “I don’t know if my grammar is correct.” Solution: The Arbeitsbuch includes a comprehensive answer key booklet. For open-ended writing, use a tool like DeepL Write or LangCorrect, or post your sentences on Reddit’s r/German from the specific Menschen chapter.
At the start of each module, a photo-story introduces the characters (Nico, Lisa, Max, etc.). You listen to their conversations while looking at pictures. This multimodal approach helps contextually anchor vocabulary.
When you meet someone, it's polite to introduce yourself. In German, you can say:
