This tool works best with older MediaTek chipsets:
Note: Does not support 64-bit only chips like MT6755, MT6795, or any MTK from 2017+ (e.g., Helio P60/G series). For those, use Miracle Box or SP Flash Tool + Magisk.
For newer MTK devices, use Magisk (with boot.img patching) and SP Flash Tool for flashing.
Click “Recovery and Boot” > “To prepare recovery for installation from PC” – the tool generates a ready-to-flash recovery image.
Warning: Rooting voids warranty and may brick your device if done incorrectly. Backup first (see Part 3). mtk droid root amp- tools v2.5.3
If rooting fails, try the “Alternative root” option in the dropdown menu.
For working with newer MediaTek devices, users now rely on:
| Purpose | Modern Tool |
|---------|--------------|
| Root | Magisk (patched boot.img + fastboot) |
| Backup/Flash | SP Flash Tool v5.x + wwr_MTK (MTK Droid Tools successor) |
| Recovery | Official TWRP builds from TeamWin or ported via MTK META Utility |
| IMEI Repair | Maui META, SN Write Tool, or Engineer Mode (MTK Engineer Mode app) |

MTK Droid Root & Tools v2.5.3 was a pioneering utility that democratized low-level access to MediaTek-based Android devices during the Android 4.x era. For hobbyists resurrecting old MT6572/82 devices, it remains a functional and valuable tool. However, for any device running Android 5.0 or newer – especially those with 64-bit MediaTek SoCs – this tool is no longer effective or safe. Its legacy lives on in concepts like scatter-based backup and automated recovery generation, but the torch has been passed to newer utilities like wwr_MTK + Magisk.
Warning: Using MTK Droid Tools on unsupported devices may cause bootloops, IMEI loss, or hard bricks. Always have a full SP Flash Tool firmware backup before attempting any low-level operations.
