Always connect the Black wire to a clean, paint-free metal surface inside the dash. If you use a factory ground wire, verify it has continuity to the chassis. Bad ground = random reboots and alternator whine.

Your Metra adapter has a yellow wire (constant) and a red wire (ignition). You connect them to Pioneer yellow and red. The GM adapter’s orange/white (dash dimmer) connects to Pioneer orange/white. This is why the universal color code works.
