Resident Evil: Vendetta is the third CGI film in the Resident Evil franchise, following Degeneration (2008) and Damnation (2012). Unlike the live-action movies starring Milla Jovovich, this film is set within the official video game canon continuity.

The story follows BSAA advisor Chris Redfield, who is tracking down Glenn Arias, a bioterrorist seeking revenge for the loss of his family. Arias has unleashed a new virus known as the "Animality Virus" (A-Virus), which turns victims into intelligent, aggressive zombies that can obey commands. Chris teams up with Leon S. Kennedy (a government agent) and Rebecca Chambers (a professor and former medic) to stop the outbreak before it reaches the United States.
