Sb | Catfight -v0.83- By Donyan
Taunting is not just for humiliation. In v0.83, a successful taunt (which takes 1.5 seconds) places a "Mark" on the opponent. Your next throw command becomes unbreakable. High-level players call this the "Shade Throw."
One of the struggles of indie fighting games is netcode and stability. While earlier versions of SB Catfight were known for being a bit buggy or having loose collision detection, v0.83 is widely regarded as a "stable" build. The hitboxes (the invisible shapes that determine if an attack hits) are much more accurate to the character models than in earlier iterations, reducing frustration during close-range scrambles. DoNyan uses a hybrid art style: 3D rendered characters (using Honey Select 2 assets) posed over 2D illustrated backgrounds. While purists might prefer hand-drawn sprites, the lighting effects in v0.83 are noticeably improved. Characters now show facial bruising and torn clothing dynamically based on remaining HP. Performance wise, v0.83 is stable. Previous versions suffered from memory leaks during the 5th or 6th gym week, but DoNyan patched the rendering pipeline. The game runs smoothly on Windows 10/11 and Linux via Wine. There is no native Mac version yet, though players report success using Porting Kit. High-level players call this the "Shade Throw
While later versions bloated the roster to over a dozen, v0.83 strikes a balance with 8 distinct characters. Each fighter has a unique "Sass Meter" rather than a traditional super meter.
