Sleeping Dogs Widescreen Fix May 2026

Even with the fix applied, the default FOV (approx 65 degrees vertical) feels claustrophobic on a 49-inch Super Ultra-Wide (32:9). Here is how to fix it:

It uses "Vert-" (Vertical minus). To maintain a specific field of view (FOV), the game zooms in on the 16:9 image to fit your 21:9 screen, then cuts off the top and bottom. Even with the fix applied, the default FOV

The result: You lose crucial visual information. In a game where environmental counters (grabbing fish tanks, shoving enemies into ventilation fans) require precise timing, losing the vertical axis is a death sentence. (I’ve linked the source in the description below)

Some graphics cards offer built-in features that can help achieve a widescreen fix:

Even if you force the resolution via the .ini files, the UI remains anchored to a 16:9 bounding box. Your minimap will drift toward the center of your screen.
