You cannot choose your exact start location, but you can influence it by registering within the first 30 seconds of server launch. The central squares (-50 to 50, -50 to 50) are where elite alliances fight for dominance. The outer rim (+100 to +300) is safer for solo players or small groups.
Pro Tip: Register with a friend or planned ally. Try to time your registrations so you land within a 15x15 grid of each other. Proximity is power in Travian.
Find the smallest, weakest neighbor. Mail them: "Hey, I see you're new. Want to join a safe alliance?"
Travian’s Tutorial Quests are not optional. They reward free resources, items, and even a free Settler later. travian server start
On Day 1, join the first open alliance you see (usually called "Noobs United" or similar). Use them for protection.

1. The Great Equalizer (For 24 Hours Only) For the first day, everyone is on equal footing. No veterans with 10,000 pop advantages, no gold club abuse (though gold still exists in some versions). The race to get the Rally Point to level 3 and claim that first 7x7 oasis is genuine, sweaty-palmed excitement.
2. Resource Management is Pure Math The early game is a beautiful puzzle. Do you upgrade the Cranny first? Do you risk saving for a Settler or pump out clubswingers/phalanxes to raid your neighbor? Every click of the mouse carries weight. The dopamine hit of logging in to find your warehouse just filled to afford the next level of Main Building is surprisingly satisfying. 3. Raiding is King Unlike the mid-game where you face walls and chiefs, the server start is a predator’s paradise. Finding an inactive player 7 fields away with 500 wood unguarded is the Travian equivalent of winning a small lottery. The “Scout/Attack” loop in the first 12 hours is frantic and fun.
