Smudge comics are the antithesis of AI. You cannot algorithmically generate a convincing smudge. The randomness of graphite dust, the unique shape of a thumb eraser, and the happy accidents of a wet brush are proof of humanity.
When you read a smudge comic, you are reading a document of time. You can see where the artist pressed too hard. You can see where they changed their mind and smeared out a line. This "process porn" is deeply satisfying. It says, "A human was here. A human struggled with this page." You don't need talent. You need vulnerability.

One moment, a terrifying Eldritch horror is crawling out of a dungeon void. The next moment, Smudge is giving it a stern talking-to about personal space, or Saph is trying to adopt it as a pet. The comic isn't about defeating the Big Bad; it's about living with the weirdness.
