Before diving into specific presets, you must understand the routing. The X32 has 8 dedicated FX slots (A through H). Each slot can host one of 32 different effect types (reverbs, delays, modulation, dynamics, etc.). The X32 comes pre-loaded with hundreds of "Presets" (Scene-specific or Slot-specific) and "Libraries" (Individual effect settings).
When we talk about "X32 effects presets," we are typically referring to either: X32 effects presets
Type: Plate Reverb (#04 - "Stereo Plate")
Library Name to look for: Snare Plate or Dense Plate
Drums need body, not just length. The stock "Stereo Plate" is okay, but the Dense Plate preset is superior for snare.
Routing: Insert this directly on the Snare channel (effect slot Insert) or send via post-fader aux. For live sound, an insert is often cleaner for snare body. These presets combine two effects in series, saving
Type: Stereo Reverb (Usually #01 - "Large Hall")
Library Name to look for: Vocal Hall 1 or Rich Hall
The default hall reverb on the X32 can sound brittle due to the pre-delay and high-frequency damping. The best preset for general vocal use modifies this.
Pro Tip: Use this preset on Aux sends 1 & 2 for your lead and backing vocals. Do not send the reverb return to the main mix bus 0dB; pull the fader down to -10dB and blend it in. Routing: Insert this directly on the Snare channel
While often handled by the channel strip, the effects engines offer additional dynamic control.
| Preset Name | Interval | Application | |-------------|----------|-------------| | Octave Up | +12 semitones | Shimmer effect, synth-like leads | | Octave Down | -12 semitones | Bass enhancer, thicken guitars | | Fifth Up | +7 semitones | Power chord thickening | | Dual Harmony | 3rd & 5th above | Vocal harmonies (follower mode) | | Detune (Chorus) | ±9 cents | Thick mono synth without pitch shifting |
Always update your X32 to the latest firmware (available from Behringer's website) to access the most current preset library.
