With the 15th anniversary of Zenonia approaching (2024-2025), Com2uS has a perfect window for a shadow-drop announcement. A remaster would cost a fraction of a new IP and would immediately recapture the adult gamers—those with disposable income now—who grew up playing Regret’s story on their iPod Touches.

Will it happen? The pessimist remembers Com2uS’s focus on gacha. The optimist remembers that remasters are the safest bet in gaming today.

The original Zenonia was released in 2008 (2009 globally) and was celebrated for its sprawling narrative, anime-inspired art style, and the sheer amount of content packed into a mobile jar. It followed the story of Regret, a young man raised by a holy knight, searching for his true identity in a world torn between good and evil.

The Remastered version brings this story back with a complete visual overhaul. Gone are the pixelated, low-resolution sprites of the original Java and early iOS days. In their place are high-definition visuals that retain the charm of the original character designs but look crisp on modern high-resolution screens. The interface has been overhauled to accommodate the aspect ratios of contemporary smartphones, eliminating the awkward black bars that plagued the original in later years.

As of this writing, the official announcement is still nebulous. However, industry leakers suggest:
