If you’ve just downloaded the newly remastered Ancient Secrets: Quest for the Golden Key (2026 edition) or are struggling with the classic version’s most obscure puzzles, you’ve come to the right place. This updated walkthrough covers every hidden lever, zodiac cipher, and spectral puzzle in the game, including the new, expanded ending released this spring.

Whether you’re stuck in the Whispering Catacombs or can’t decipher the Sun Priest’s riddle, this guide will lead you step-by-step to unlock the Golden Key and claim the legendary Star Chest.

  • The Tower of Eons (Final Boss/Puzzle):

    • Objective: Reflect moonlight to unlock the Water Seal Fragment.

    This is the most notoriously difficult puzzle in the original game. The remaster adds a helpful visual beam tracer.

    Setup:

    Mirror Solution (from east to west):

    Once the beam hits, a hidden door opens. Inside, a water basin. Reach into it – you’ll get the Water Seal Fragment and the Silver Moon Medallion.

    Alternate solution for speedrunners: Ignore Mirror 2 completely. The new patch makes Mirror 1 and 5 the only critical ones. But for the “Master Reflector” achievement, you must use all five.

    Objectives: Use Silver Key to access Gate, solve Mirror Puzzle, obtain Golden Keystone. Pull the lever

  • Exact rotations depend on UI; ensure beam reflects in sequence A→C→E→prism.
  • Prism refracts light to reveal Golden Keystone pedestal; pick up Golden Keystone.

    • Collectible: Ancient Tablet #5 — behind prism casing.

    Goal: Find the 3 Moon Gems to lower the iron gate.

  • Hidden Object Area (New Layout): The broken pillar now requires you to find: Raven feather, silver needle, dried lotus, cracked hourglass, and a bishop chess piece.
  • Gem #2: Inside the now-open pillar. Use the needle to pick the lock.
  • Gem #3: In the bat nest above the gate. Burn the nest using the candle from the altar (combine candle + flint found under a skull).
  • Gate Mechanism: Place all three gems. The gate opens to the Echoing Halls.
