Cyberpunk 2077 Keyboard Controls

Small participant sample and post-launch patch differences; findings focus on PC keyboard play and may not generalize to controller-exclusive designs.

Mastering the Cyberpunk 2077 keyboard controls is a rite of passage. The default layout will get you through the prologue, but customization will turn you into a ghost in the machine. Remember the three golden rules of PC Cyberpunk:

Take thirty minutes in Watson during Act 1 to tweak your sensitivity and practice slide-jumping over walls. Once the keybinds become muscle memory, you will stop thinking about your hands and start thinking like V—hacking, shooting, and driving through the glittering hellscape of Night City with lethal efficiency. cyberpunk 2077 keyboard controls

Now get out there, choom. Your keyboard is your weapon. Don’t let the corpos slow you down.

Did we miss a keybind? Check the full list in-game via Options > Key Bindings. Patch 2.1 introduced new keys for metro riding and romance hangouts, so always check for updates.

1. Snappy, Precision Aiming
Unlike a controller, KBM turns V into a lethal headshot machine. With a decent mouse, you can flick between enemies, ping smart weapons, and track fast-moving cyberpsychos effortlessly. The aim assist (which you can turn off) isn’t needed, and the hit feedback is satisfying. Take thirty minutes in Watson during Act 1

2. Unmatched Customization
Every single action – from “Crouch” to “Toggle Weapon Sights” to “Scanning Mode” – is rebindable. Even secondary bindings are allowed. Want Ctrl for crouch and a side mouse button? Go for it. This is PC-friendly design at its core.

3. Quickhack & Scanning Workflow
Using Tab to scan, then clicking enemy weak points or devices with the mouse feels natural. The wheel menu for quickhacks is a bit dated, but with practice, you can 1-2-3 ping, blind, and short-circuit a group in seconds. No radial menu slowdown needed.

4. On-Foot Movement Responsiveness
Dodge (double-tap direction or a dedicated key) is crisp. Sprint, slide, jump, and climb flow together well once you’re used to them. The mantis blades and monowire feel especially fluid with mouse control – you can literally slice in the direction you’re looking. Did we miss a keybind

Driving in Night City can be done in two distinct modes: First Person (inside the car) or Third Person (chase cam).

| Action | Default Key | | :--- | :--- | | Accelerate | W | | Brake / Reverse | S | | Steer Left/Right | A / D | | Handbrake / Drift | Space | | Enter/Exit Vehicle | F | | Switch Seats | Left Alt | | Change Camera View | Q | | Horn | Left Ctrl | | Nitro / Boost | Left Shift | | Radio | R (cycles stations) | | Turn Engine Off | Hold Alt (while stopped) |

Fix: This is often a conflict with IME (Input Method Editor) for non-English keyboards. Press Windows Key + Spacebar to ensure you are in pure English keyboard mode.

Enhance the default keyboard + mouse controls to reduce hand strain, improve vehicle handling, and add contextual "quick-hack" shortcuts for a smoother, more immersive experience in Cyberpunk 2077.
