The prophecies supposedly originate with Miloš Tarabić (c. 1799–1869) and his nephew Mitar Tarabić (1829–1899), illiterate farmers from Kremna. According to later transcriptions, they described future events in vivid detail — from the invention of cars and planes to world wars, revolutions, and even the downfall of modern civilization.
The prophecies were first written down by a priest, Zaharije Zaharović, and later popularized by Đorđe Stanojević (1858–1921), a Serbian physicist and academic, in his 1902 book “Kremansko proročanstvo” and again in 1915. Stanojević claimed to have interviewed the Tarabićs and taken notes verbatim.
